In this episode, we start at the beginning of the world of autoinflammation with Dr Ron Laxer from The Hospital for Sick Children. The conversation dives into what makes autoinflammatory disorders distinct from that of autoimmune disorders, with interesting historic pearls scattered throughout.
Our host, Dr Michelle Batthish (Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics' Division of Rheumatology at McMaster University) invites you to listen into the first episode of the first series of the One in a Million Podcast, which will serve as a background and introduction into the world of autoinflammation. In this episode, she sits down with Dr Ron Laxer where they get to the basics of this space.
Dr Ron Laxer quite literally ‘wrote the book’ on Autoinflammation (see the ‘Textbook of Autoinflammation’), which was released in the spring of 2019 with co-editors in Israel and the Netherlands. With over 300 papers and 40 book chapters, plus a co-editor of the ‘Textbook of Pediatric Rheumatology’, Dr Laxer is a wealth of knowledge.
