You last listened March 24, 2021

What’s most important? Helping get a diagnosis for those patients who have had symptoms for a long time. Recurrent periods of systemic inflammation when big categories are ruled out like viral infections and immunodeficiences should flag it is time for a referral, but to whom? Tune in to find out the best way to look after these patients with a multidisciplinary approach.

Our host, Dr Michelle Batthish (Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics' Division of Rheumatology at McMaster University) invites you to listen into the first episode of the first series of the One in a Million Podcast, which will serve as a background and introduction into the world of autoinflammation.  In this episode, she sits down with Dr Ron Laxer where they get to the basics of this space.

Dr Ron Laxer quite literally ‘wrote the book’ on Autoinflammation (see the ‘Textbook of Autoinflammation’), which was released in the spring of 2019 with co-editors in Israel and the Netherlands.  With over 300 papers and 40 book chapters, plus a co-editor of the ‘Textbook of Pediatric Rheumatology’, Dr Laxer is a wealth of knowledge. Dr Laxer has won countless awards from patients, students, and colleagues in recognition of his clinical and teaching excellence and his compassion and caring for patients.  In 2019, Dr Laxer was the recipient of the Master of the ACR designation, which is one of the highest honors that the College bestows on its distinguished members.
