Rami Yoakum
Hello and welcome to REINCheck. My name is Rami Yoakum and I am the Communications Specialist here at REIN. And I will be your host for this episode. We've turned the tables a bit on our usual host, and today Andrea Rice is on the other side of the microphone as our guest. Andrea will be answering a few questions about REINCheck and how it came about her experiences over the last four years, and perhaps some insight into where the podcast is headed in the future.
00:00:48:09 - 00:00:54:19
Rami Yoakum
Andrea, welcome and I hope you're not too nervous sitting on the other side of the table today.
00:00:54:21 - 00:01:04:18
Andrea Rice
It definitely is a different experience being on this side of it. So not nervous, but, excited for this new experience.
00:01:04:20 - 00:01:26:23
Rami Yoakum
Good, good. We'll have some, questions for Andrea, and, hopefully she will share some insight for us. And we'll see where we've been and where we're going. But let's go ahead and get started. So first of all, take us back about four years or four seasons ago to a world that was a bit of a different place.
00:01:27:00 - 00:01:38:22
Rami Yoakum
And, tell us a little bit about how the idea developed, for a podcast and especially why you and Ryan leadership thought that a podcast would be a good idea.
00:01:38:24 - 00:02:02:11
Andrea Rice
Yeah. That's a good, good place to start. The idea came to me one day driving into work. I was driving down Virginia Beach Boulevard, and I just had this thought, you know, I need to start a podcast that REIN. And I don't know why I had that thought and that desire. Because, honestly, I at that point had never listened to a single podcast.
00:02:02:13 - 00:02:24:03
Andrea Rice
But it was a persistent, persistent thought in my head that I've got to do this, I've got to do this. And so I talked with management and it was not a greenlight right away. You know, four years later, we can say, of course, this is a no brainer to do a podcast for our members. But in the beginning, it was it didn't happen right away.
00:02:24:03 - 00:02:42:03
Andrea Rice
It took a little bit of time. We had to really think it out. I was pretty persistent and eventually everyone was like, yeah, actually this is a good idea because, you know, it's just the way times are changing that people can get their information on the go and who is more on the go than our members.
00:02:42:05 - 00:03:04:00
Rami Yoakum
Exactly, exactly. And that and that really kind of leads right into my second question, which kind of goes along the lines of what is the goal for the podcast? And I'm going to ask, what are some of the benefits presenting the information to our members in a podcast format, which really kind of hits on what you just said.
00:03:04:02 - 00:03:26:15
Andrea Rice
Yeah, exactly. So one of the goals of the podcast is just to bring some of the information that we would normally communicate through presentations or emails in a different platform in, in another way that people may want to digest that information, and we can do it in a different spin. Sometimes with when we're doing just a podcast format.
00:03:26:17 - 00:03:51:21
Andrea Rice
So I think the benefit is people learn different ways and it's just an easy access, right. You don't have to, pull up your, laptop and be looking at something. You can be driving down the road and listen to it. You can be sitting in your car waiting for the home inspector. So it's a really an easy way to get information on the go.
00:03:51:23 - 00:04:24:14
Andrea Rice
And that was really what we thought the main benefit of presenting the information in a podcast format would be. And I think if anyone has been following for a while now, they will see that a lot of our episodes are very short. In the beginning they were maybe 30 or 40 minutes long and one day I had the idea I was like, let's just do the top five and five for the AICUZ.
00:04:24:14 - 00:04:43:01
Andrea Rice
I think it was the AICUZ episode, and it was going to be top five questions in five minutes or less. And that was our number one downloaded episode. And at that point we kind of thought, you know what, maybe these shorter ones are really more of what people are craving. So now we try to keep them to around ten minutes.
00:04:43:03 - 00:05:03:02
Rami Yoakum
Yeah. And I plan to mention this at the end. And I probably will repeat it. But for people who maybe happen to not want to listen or take the time to listen, they also have the option of going on our website and seeing a transcript, and they can kind of read through the episodes. Correct?
00:05:03:04 - 00:05:23:02
Andrea Rice
Yes. And I think that is a wonderful thing to point out, because I have had people call me that say when they get a notice that a new episode is out, they go directly and read the transcript. So it's just different people like to take in the information in different ways, so we're happy to put it out there in every, every way we can.
00:05:23:04 - 00:05:47:03
Rami Yoakum
Excellent. So as we mentioned, we're in our fourth season right now and you've done over 70 episodes. I think if I counted correctly. There's been a ton of variety to the episodes, a lot of real estate stuff, but it hasn't necessarily been limited to information on doing real estate, so to speak, has been a lot of variety.
00:05:47:04 - 00:05:59:11
Rami Yoakum
Why do episodes that deal with things like, I don't know, gratitude, meditation, things like that that really don't have any direct, bearing on real estate or do they?
00:05:59:13 - 00:06:27:06
Andrea Rice
Yeah. So that's a good question, Rami. And those those are some of my favorite episodes to do. The gratitude, the meditation. That was a fun one. Alter ego effect. And these don't necessarily scream real estate, but I think for anyone who is trying to empower themselves and be a better version of themselves, which we know our members are out there and they're high level performers.
00:06:27:06 - 00:06:41:17
Andrea Rice
And I feel like these topics really resonate with people who are mindful and want to perform at a high level. And so those are some of my more interesting and favorite episodes to do.
00:06:41:19 - 00:06:49:13
Rami Yoakum
That would seem to indicate that you think real estate is a bit of a stressful, you know, a stressful industry to be involved in?
00:06:49:15 - 00:07:09:09
Andrea Rice
I would say, because I've bought and sold a few homes in my time as the buyer seller, definitely not as the real estate agent. And I can say those were the most stressful times in my life. And if you were my agent during those times, I'm sorry. I probably induced a lot of stress into your life.
00:07:09:11 - 00:07:23:03
Rami Yoakum
Yeah. So as we mentioned, we're in our fourth season and you currently have around 930 subscribers. Are you happy with 930? Is that pretty good?
00:07:23:05 - 00:07:42:03
Andrea Rice
I feel like it's pretty good. I'm not unhappy with it. But you know, my goal by the end of the year was to hit a thousand. So if you have not subscribed, maybe you can help help us hit that goal. I would like to see a thousand by the end of the year. Yeah. And I don't know that a thousand really means anything it’s just a number.
00:07:42:03 - 00:07:44:17
Andrea Rice
But we're growing, we’re growing.
00:07:45:17 - 00:08:00:21
Rami Yoakum
Nothing wrong with having goals for sure. Can you real quick for someone who might be listening, who is not a subscriber, or maybe talk about how to subscribe and what are some of the benefits of being a subscriber, might be?
00:08:00:23 - 00:08:22:02
Andrea Rice
Yeah. So if you are not currently a subscriber, you can go to REINMLS.com, and you can go to the REINCheck section of the website and you can subscribe. And when you subscribe, you get future episodes delivered directly to your inbox when they come out. So I think that's one of the main benefits. You don't even have to look for it.
00:08:22:02 - 00:08:42:12
Andrea Rice
You have you don't have to have it on your radar. When a new episode comes out, you'll get it in your inbox and you can see if it's something that interests you. I also do think this is a great tool for Brokers, so if you are a Broker who is listening right now and you have your own firm, this can be a great learning tool for your Agents.
00:08:42:14 - 00:09:04:00
Andrea Rice
We put out a lot of good information, especially, you know, around forms, release times. We do stats, things of that nature, new programs that are, that come out at REIN. So if you would encourage your Agents to subscribe, I think you'll see that that's a good tool that they can have just to stay on top of what's happening.
00:09:04:02 - 00:09:13:11
Rami Yoakum
You put out, a number of episodes related to the recent NAR settlement, correct, that people could still access if they wanted to listen to.
00:09:13:13 - 00:09:35:03
Andrea Rice
Yes, yes. There were a number of episodes we had our attorneys on. So those the episodes we have with our attorneys I think are hugely beneficial. And if you ever want to go back and listen to those, those are all on REINMLS.com. The transcripts are there. And. Yeah. So actually all of the episodes for all four years are still there.
00:09:35:03 - 00:09:40:24
Andrea Rice
So you can go back and listen to any of them. And, and most of them are still relevant.
00:09:41:01 - 00:09:59:24
Rami Yoakum
Yeah, yeah. I was going to mention you mentioned the AICUZ and some of that stuff. So people can go back and still look up those things and they are still topical and important to know at this point. We do get a lot of new people in the business who can benefit from going back and listening to some of these.
00:10:00:01 - 00:10:23:00
Rami Yoakum
So, as season four comes to an end, I know that, you know, you and I have talked some before about, ideas for future podcast. As the season wraps up and you're looking at season five, what might listeners expect? What are you thinking about? What what's the big idea for season five?
00:10:23:02 - 00:10:49:24
Andrea Rice
Oh, well, you know, I think you're gonna always have those very staple episodes, like I said, like the forms release, the year-end stats, those kinds of things. You know, those will be mainstays. But I would also really love to hear what our members would like to hear more about. Do you want to hear more episodes about things like the alter ego effect or, you know, meditation, things of that nature?
00:10:49:24 - 00:11:09:24
Andrea Rice
And are there things that we haven't even thought of that you have a desire to hear about? So I would love to hear from our members if anyone out there listening has any thoughts on things that they would like to hear about, please, please submit those to Admin@reininc.com and we can take a look at that.
00:11:09:24 - 00:11:34:20
Andrea Rice
But going beyond this year, I think I would just say, yeah, I would like to open it up to more topics. I feel like 2024 has been heavily centered on, you know, the things we had to talk about because there were so many changes in the industry. So I would like to do some more fun things, you know, some more lighthearted, things in the future.
00:11:34:22 - 00:11:59:18
Rami Yoakum
Yeah. For sure. And a lot of the ideas probably pop up when something happens in the industry that maybe you want to address or that we as an agency need to address. So you have some open endedness to your planning throughout the year. As we wrap up this episode, we want to make sure we remind members, listeners, you can find all the old episodes on our website, REINMLS.com.
00:11:59:18 - 00:12:27:09
Rami Yoakum
Just log in. And on the top right of the page you'll see a News tab. If you do the drop down there you can see the REINCheck podcast. All the episodes are there, all the transcripts. You can read them if you prefer to do that. And again, we put and the ENews that we send out to members every two weeks, we I almost always put, the link in there to subscribe, and, you know, information about the new episodes.
00:12:27:09 - 00:12:47:07
Rami Yoakum
So if you're looking to subscribe, look for that ENews that comes out. There'll be one this Monday. There'll be a link in there where, members can subscribe to listen. And that probably brings us near our time limit. Andrea, thank you for sharing all of your information. Is there anything you would like to add before we wrap up?
00:12:47:09 - 00:12:59:08
Andrea Rice
I just want to say thank you, Rami. This was your idea to do this episode, and I love that you took over as host and let me be on the other side of the microphone. So I just want to say that.
00:12:59:10 - 00:13:17:04
Rami Yoakum
You are welcome. I am far from a good host, but I'm a pretty good listener. So as long as I ask your good question, we're good to go. But for now, we'll wrap this episode up. And until next time, REIN listeners, be safe and enjoy life. Thank you.
00:13:17:06 - 00:13:20:10
Andrea Rice
Thanks.
